Privacy policy

According to Reg. (UE) 2016/679 – GDPR

1 Introduction

Privacy protection is of primary importance for REFEL S.p.A., and we are aware of your interest in how your personal data are used.
This Privacy Policy describes how we manage personal data acquired – independently or through third parties – through this website, and is valid for visitors / users of this site. It does not apply to information collected through channels other than this website. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to provide maximum transparency regarding the information that the site collects and how it is used.

2 General principles and commitment to privacy protection

REFEL S.p.A. is committed to protecting your right to privacy. Our goal is to protect all data we hold in order to manage your personal data responsibly and transparently. We are therefore committed to the following general principles:

  • All data are processed in a lawful, correct and transparent manner in relation to the data subject, in compliance with the general principles established by the GDPR.
  • We collect and process your data only for the purposes indicated in this Privacy Policy or for the specific purposes already shared with you and / or with respect to which you have given your consent.
  • We aim to collect, process and use as little personal information as possible.
  • If the personal data we collect are no longer necessary for any purpose and we are not required to keep them by law, we will do everything possible to delete or destroy them.
  • Specific security measures are observed to prevent data loss, illicit or incorrect use of and unauthorized access to your personal data.
  • Your personal data will not be shared, sold, made available or communicated to subjects other than those indicated in this Policy.

3 Collected data and purposes

3.1 Navigation data

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this site, during their normal operation, acquire some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers and terminals used by users, addresses in URI / URL notation (Uniform Resource Identifier / Locator) of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used in the submission of the request to the server, the file size obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (success, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the operating system and the user’s computer environment.
These data, which are necessary for the use of web services, are also processed for the purpose of:

  • obtaining statistical information on the use of services (most visited pages, number of visitors per hour or day, geographical areas of origin, etc.);
  • checking the correct functioning of the services offered.

The navigation data do not persist for a time exceeding the operating needs and are deleted immediately after their aggregation (except for any need to ascertain criminal offenses by the judicial authorities).

3.2 Cookies

3.2.1 General

Cookies are small text strings that the site visited by the user sends to the user’s terminal (usually the browser), where they are stored for re-transmission during the next visit of the user to the same site. During site navigation, the user can also receive cookies that are sent from different websites or web servers (the so-called “third parties”) which contain elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the visited site. Usually present in the user’s browsers in very large numbers and sometimes even with long temporal persistence, cookies are used for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, monitoring of sessions, storage of information on specific configurations concerning users accessing the server, choice of the reference language, storage of the shopping cart, etc.

Two macro-categories of cookies have been identified so far: “technical” and “profiling” cookies.

  • Technical cookies. Technical cookies are used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service. They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies (see below), which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas); analytical cookies, assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functional cookies, which allow the user to browse according to selected criteria (for example, the language, the products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service. The prior consent of users is not required for the installation of a.m. cookies.
  • Profiling cookies. Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles related to the user and are used for advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of surfing the net. Because of the particular impertinence that such devices can have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation requires the user to be adequately informed about their use and to explicitly express his/her valid consent.

Depending on their life span, cookies are classified as session or persistent cookies:

  • Session cookies contain the information used in your current browser session. These cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. Nothing is stored on your computer after browsing the site.
  • Persistent cookies are used to maintain the information in the period between different accesses to the website, or for technical purposes and to improve site navigation. This data allows the site to recognize you as a known user or visitor and to adapt accordingly. Persistent cookies have a duration that is set by the website and can vary from a few minutes to two years. Our site uses this type of cookies only to allow faster and easier access.

It is necessary to consider the different subjects that install cookies on the user’s terminal, depending on whether it is the operator of the site the user is visiting (the so-called “first party”) or a different site which installs cookies through the first (the so-called “third parties”).

  • First-party cookies are created and readable by the site that created them.
  • Third-party cookies are created and readable by domains external to the site, and the data are kept by the third party. For more information about this type of advertising based on the user’s tastes originated by third-party cookies, please visit the third-party sites following the links below. Under and you will also find information on how behavioural advertising works, as well as a lot of information on cookies and the steps to follow in order to protect your privacy on the internet.
